Fun for pre-schoolers & carers

Stay & Play

Stay and Play is a weekly group for Preschool Children and their carers. A wide variety of toys and equipment are available each week for the children to explore and we also do a craft activity.

We are lucky to have a garden which we use regularly and have a selection of ride-on toys as well as a sandpit. This year we have planted lots of vegetables and fruit which we have watched grow and then harvested and tasted.

Each week the children have a healthy snack of toast and fruit with a drink of milk. We cater for all diets so dairy-free spread, gluten-free bread and oat milk are always available.

There is tea and coffee available for the adults..

A small charge is made for this group which pays for the snack and craft activities and it is held on Friday morning 10am -1pm weekly. Please contact Jess Galliers Familycentre@knightoncomm.wales or admin@knightoncomm.wales for more information.

Upcoming events for children & families

Family Centre

Knighton and District Community Centre has secured funding from Comic Relief and the Social Care Value Forum to run a Family Centre once a week.

The Family Centre runs on Mondays 11am – 2.30pm and offers children and their carers the opportunity to play, take part in activities as well as socialise. Tea and Coffee are available, and lunch is also provided free of charge.

We have been able to provide opportunities for the children and carers such as baby massage, car seat checks, introduction to speaking Welsh, signing and much more. We have had two trips to the soft play centre at Mickey Millers as well as a trip to Borth during the summer.

During school holidays we run play sessions for school-age children both at the centre and out in the wider community so that as many children as possible are able to take part.

Exciting news we have the wonderful Toni Pettitt who runs Woodland Tots and Forest School sessions. She is going to be working with us once a fortnight so we will be doing lots of outside activities and learning about our environment.

We will also be working closely with the library and hope to get all our Family Centre members to join the library and take books out each week.

Upcoming sessions will include a Halloween-themed Family Centre with spooky food as well as an outreach session during half term. We are also in the process of trying to organise a Christmas Trip or Christmas Party with Santa.

Join our Facebook page which is called Stay and Play and The Family Centre @ The Comm where all the latest news can be found, or pop in on Mondays, you will be most welcome.
