Heres news of an exciting film coming up next week. On Saturday 17th Feb (Note that its not our normal Friday film night) we have a funny and also touching documentary about Afghanistans most popular and prolific film director…. Salim Shaheen, though unknown outside Afghanistan (until now),has made and distributed more than a hundred movies, working on shoestring budgets, undeterred by rocket attacks, riots or religious fundamentalism. This film follows him as he films his 111th movie, colourfully blending sub-Bollywood action, comedy and lip-synced song-and-dance numbers just the way his Afghan audiences like, in locations where making movies really is a dangerous business!
As usual the film starts at 7.30pm in the Reynolds Room and entrance is just £4. And, because we really want to make this a bit of a special movie-going night, were offering Afghan style snacks in the interval FREE OF CHARGE. Were already perfecting our boulani recipe in readiness (Google it!).
So… an at times hilarious, heartwarming and touching film about Afghanistan.Come and see “The Prince of Nothingwood” and be amazed.
