Fashion and Fizz Show Fundraiser at Knighton Community Centre.

A special fashion show is being held at Knighton & District Community Centre, to raise funds for the very popular weekly “Woman’s Hour” which takes place every Tuesday morning between 11am and mid-day.
The “Women’ Hour” programme, started in September 2023 by Volunteer Co-ordinator Annie England, is a free provision with a rolling programme, and provides an opportunity for women from the local community to meet in a safe space to socialize, explore a range of issues and concerns, listen to guest speakers and have the opportunity for joining guided walks in the surrounding area. Organised around a monthly schedule, week 1 is a Meet-and-Chat session, weeks 2 and 4 are with guest presenters, and week 3 is an organised walk with support from the Radnorshire Wildlife Trust. The regular Tuesday cafe provides light refreshments, and the programme also has a Facebook Group with around 200 members.  Those attending come from a wide demographic and across the age-range, from young Mums to those in their 80’s, with around 25-30 in attendance each week.
In addition, after an initial and very successful trial, Ali Lambie is providing a free half-hour Mindfulness session every week prior to “Women’s Hour”, between 1030am and 11am, and there is also the opportunity to take part in an all abilities  movement activity, facilitated by Elly, which runs between 1215pm and 1pm, at a cost of £6 – more details can be found at www.groovewithelly.co.uk .
With running costs of the Centre to pay for, and the likelihood of costs in the future for speakers and presenters, the Fashion & Fizz Show is hoping to raise funds for the continuing development of a project that is clearly meeting a variety of needs for women of all ages in Knighton and the neighbourhood.
The Knighton fashion retailers, W.E. Price, are sponsoring the event, and providing the cat-walk models and clothes, whilst Knighton Grooming For Dogs will be providing refreshments. The event takes place on Tuesday 28th May in the main hall of the Community Centre. There will be a bar and cafe and a raffle, and tickets, including nibbles and fizz, cost £10, with all profits going to the “Women’s Hour”.  Discount vouchers for W.E. Price will also be available at the event, and tickets can be bought from W.E. Price, the Community Centre or on the door, which will open at 7pm.  The show starts at 7.30pm, will last for approximately an hour and will be followed by nibbles and fizz.
