Advice from the Hub Drop-in Eatery Volunteer
Under the supervision and guidance of the Hub Coordinator and the Kitchen Assistant, volunteers can work in either the kitchen or the Drop-in venue (or both) to support the service delivery of both the Soup from the Hub home delivery and the Drop-in Eatery provision
About the opportunity
Role Title: Advice from the Hub Drop-in Eatery Volunteer
Hours of work: Flexible hours to suit volunteer Thursdays (between) 10.00 – 15.00, weekly, fortnightly or monthly
Reports to: Annie England K&DCC Hub Coordinator
Base: Knighton & District Community Centre (K&DCC)
Responsibilities/Tasks
- To read & familiarise yourself with K&DCC volunteer policies and guidelines (located on K&DCC website – volunteer section/paper copies available)
- To read & sign the volunteer agreement
- To attend a volunteer induction
- To attend bi-monthly volunteer supervision group (not mandatory)
- To support kitchen and Drop-in set-up
- To support Drop-in closure at end of the shift
- Assist in food & drink preparation for both internal and external food provision
- Supporting the kitchen staff in tasks such as washing up etc.
- Customer service
- Engage socially with all customers
- Handling customer donations
- Assist in clearing tables & ensuring kitchen is kept in a clean and tidy manner
- To attend any relevant training needed to fulfil the role
- To support all volunteers and customers in adhering to ALL Covid-19 regulations
Personal qualities/skills required
- Willingness to undertake training
- Willingness to process DBS
- Good listening and communication skills
- Understanding of food safety guidelines
- Understanding of health and safety guidelines
- Friendly & patient attitude
- Reliable
