About the opportunity

Role Title: Knighton Festival Volunteer
Hours of work: Flexible – attending committee meetings monthly and increasing during the Festival period
Base: Knighton & District Community Centre (K&DCC)
Accountable to: Fiona Roper

 

Summary of Volunteer Role

  • Under the supervision and guidance of the lead volunteers, general help with the running of the Festival.
  • Prior to the Festival: help with publicity, putting up posters and sharing programme info on social
    media.
  • During the Festival there are several different roles available: helping in the Café, meet and greet
    duties, and filming talks.

 

Responsibilities/Tasks

  • To read & familiarise yourself with K&DCC volunteer policies and guidelines (located on K&DCC website – volunteer section/paper copies available)
  • To read & sign the volunteer agreement
  • To attend a volunteer induction
  • To attend bi-monthly volunteer supervision group (not mandatory)
  • Providing help if required to stallholders at the Festival market on Saturday 29 October
  • Collecting fees from stallholders
  • Directing audience members around the venue on both Saturdays
  • Helping to greet and direct speakers to the Reynolds Room or Main hall as appropriate
  • Serving refreshments in the café on the Festival Saturdays
  • Clearing tables / Washing up / keeping kitchen area tidy
  • Taking money from customers
  • Cleaning and closing the Cafe & Kitchen areas used at end of the shift
  • To attend any relevant training needed to fulfil the role
  • To work within Covid-19 regulations/guidelines

 

Personal qualities/skills required

  • Willingness to undertake training
  • Willingness to process DBS if required
  • Good listening and communication skills
  • Friendly & patient attitude
  • Reliable
