To assist and support paid staff, in providing a safe, stimulating and positive environment to enable and empower children to develop socially and emotionally
About the opportunity
Role Title: Family Centre / Stay & Play Volunteer
Hours of work: Negotiable – Monday/Friday 10.30 – 3pm & Wednesday 8.45 – 12pm (weekly, fortnightly or
monthly)
Base: Knighton & District Community Centre
Accountable to: Allocated staff member from Family Centre
Responsibilities/Tasks
- To read & familiarise yourself with K&DCC volunteer policies and guidelines (located on K&DCC website – volunteer section/paper copies available)
- To read & sign the volunteer agreement
- To attend a volunteer induction
- To attend bi-monthly volunteer supervision group (not mandatory)
- Support staff in the setting up and closing down of each session
- Interact in a professional, supportive and meaningful manner with children, carers and parents
- Support staff in facilitating the delivery of arts, crafts and play activities which will positively promote inclusivity for all children
- To support staff in the delivery of food provision
- To attend any relevant training needed to fulfil the role
- To attend bi-monthly supervision support groups

- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and customers confidentiality
What we will offer:
We will offer you the opportunity to gain experience working with children. This will be invaluable if you are looking at making this type of work your career. We will endeavour to offer you training in Paediatric First Aid, Basic Food Hygiene and Safeguarding should you be interested. If you are studying childcare at college I would be happy for tutors to visit and assess you working with the children and to fill in any paperwork required.
