About the opportunity
Role Title:Member of the Management Committee (MC)
Hours of work: Flexible – attending committee meetings monthly and thereafter contributing to specific tasks and activities
Base: Knighton & District Community Centre (K&DCC)
Accountable to: Chair KDCC Management Committee
Information to support application:
- Members of the MC are either co-opted or elected at the AGM and must have 2 nominees
- The process is governed by the Constitution
- The Community Centre is a Registered Charity and must have Trustees
- All members of the MC are welcome to become Trustees
- Membership of the Management Committee and Trusteeship is a serious legal responsibility please see: https://beingacharitytrustee.campaign.gov.uk/there are a number of short videos explaining the detail
- Meetings are generally hybrid to help people with home/work responsibilities to attend
- Expenses can be paid for child care / caring responsibilities
- PAVO offers training for Trustees / members of the MC roughly every 4 months and WCVA have a number of resources for Trustees eg https://wcva.cymru/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/WCVA-Faith-and-Hope-Dont-Run-Charities.pdf

Summary of Volunteer Role
- Responsibility for the overall management and decision making of KDCC
- Responsible for planning the direction and activities of KDCC and its performance
- Responsible for directing and monitoring activities and planning for the future
Key Areas of Management Committee Responsibilities:
- Vision & Leadership
- Accountability
- Governance & Safeguarding
- Financial responsibility
- Staff and volunteer management and supervision
- Each member of the MC is encouraged to take a specific responsibility for helping to manage the Community Centre, this includes the Treasurer, Secretary, Health and Safety, Fund raising and grant seeking, Partnership work with other organisations, the garden, Flicks, Festival and publicity
Responsibilities / Tasks:
- All members of the MC should undertake a DBS check every 3 years.
- To familiarise yourself with K&DCC volunteer policies and other volunteer documentation (found on KDCC website – volunteer section/paper copies available)
- To read & sign the volunteer agreement
- To attend a volunteer induction
- To attend & contribute to all monthly management meetings
- To attend bi-monthly volunteer supervision group (not mandatory)
- To act only in the best interest of KDCC
- To be involved in major decision making
- To be unpaid
- To be objective, honest and behave with integrity
- Ensure there are no conflicts of interest in any decision making relating to KDCC
- To use specific skills, knowledge or experience to contribute to sound decision-making, and/-or service delivery provision
- To treat matters within the organisation as confidential and abide by decisions taken
